When you enter your name and email address, for example, to subscribe to blog posts, to get a free download or join a waitlist, your name and email address will be shared with Intuit Mailchimp. We may use your information to market and promote our services. Users can opt-out of such communication by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in such communication.

Comments for Blog Posts

When Users leave comments on the Site’s blog comments form, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and the visitor’s IP address and browser’s User agent string to help with spam detection. Blog post comments are publicly available to visitors to the Site.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using the Gravatar service. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture, if set, is visible to the public in the context of your comment. If you did not set up a profile picture, a generic avatar will be used.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our Site, you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Google Analytics, Solid Security, Complianz and Intuit Mailchimp utilize cookies; their services are used by this Site. Their cookie use is described in their sections of this privacy policy.

Google utilizes the Data collected to track and examine the use of this Site, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Personal data is anonymized and not linked to the individual User who visited the Site.

Google may use the Data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

Per Google’s Privacy & Terms page, viewable here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, your web browser automatically sends information to Google when you view the Site. The information sent to Google includes the URL of the page you are viewing and your IP address. Google may also set cookies on your browser or read cookies that are already there.

Intuit Mailchimp

Intuit Mailchimp, hereinafter referred to as “Mailchimp”, a registered trademark of The Rocket Science Group, is a marketing and sales tool service provider. This Site uses Mailchimp’s services for email marketing purposes. As a User of the Site, your data, such as your name, email address and other personal contact information that you enter on the Site becomes part of the Contacts data shared with Mailchimp. Mailchimp has a section in their privacy policy specific to how Contacts data is managed and is described here: https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement.

Mailchimp uses Contacts data that this Site shares with Mailchimp as well as information collected by Mailchimp automatically about your device and interaction with an email sent to you by the Site’s use of Mailchimp’s services. Mailchimp uses cookies and other tracking technologies to collect some of this information. Technologies such as web beacons, pixels and, for the Site Owner’s mobile use of Mailchimp’s services, SDKs are used. Information such as whether emails were delivered and opened and if links in the email were clicked, may be collected. Information about the device and applications you use to access emails sent through the Site’s use of Mailchimp’s services, such as your IP address, your operating system, your browser ID, email client and other information about your system may be tracked to help measure the performance of this Site’s email campaigns. For more details on how Mailchimp accesses and collects Contacts data, please see Mailchimp’s privacy policy link above. Mailchimp’s Cookie Statement is available here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/cookies/.

Mailchimp collects usage data about your interactions with the Site, which may include dates and times you access emails sent to you and your browsing activities (such as what pages are viewed and which emails are opened). This information allows Mailchimp to monitor and prevent abuse of the Mailchimp service by the Site. Mailchimp also collects information regarding metrics related to the deliverability of emails and other electronic communications that the Site sends through its use of Mailchimp. This information allows the Site to improve the content and use of Mailchimp’s services.

Mailchimp may, from time to time, obtain information about you from third-party sources, such as social media platforms, and third-party data providers.

Integration Between Mailchimp and Google Analytics

This Site has connected Mailchimp to Google Analytics to enhance tracking and reporting data regarding your visits to the Site. This means that tracking technologies such as a Mailchimp cookie or JavaScript snippet may be deployed on your device when you click on a link in an email, interact with a pop-up form or visit the Site via a Google, Facebook or an Instagram ad. The details of this tracking functionality are described here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/additional-terms/ .

Integration Between Mailchimp and Eventbrite

The Owner advertises services on the Eventbrite event ticketing platform. The Owner is the Event Organizer for events that we advertise on Eventbrite. While you are logged in to Eventbrite, if you purchase a ticket for an event that is hosted by the Owner, and, as part of your Eventbrite ticket purchase transaction, you opt in to receive emails from the event organizer,  your name, email address and the name of the event you have purchased tickets for is automatically added to the Contacts data in the Owner’s Mailchimp account.

Complianz

This Site uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record Browser and Device-based Consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymized and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.

Solid Security

The Site uses a Solid Security plug-in, created by SolidWP (https://solidwp.com), intended to shield the Site from cyberattacks and prevent security vulnerabilities.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Cookies

A cookie named “itsec_interstitial_browser” is created to track a user’s login process to implement enhanced security features.

Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie that aids compatibility with some alternate login methods. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after 1 hour.

Security Logs

The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific kinds of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging occurs include login attempts, log out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 10 days.

Who We Share Your Data With

The Site is scanned for potential malware and vulnerabilities by the SolidWP Site Scanner. We do not send personal information to the scanner; however, the scanner could find personal information posted publicly (such as in blog post comments) during the scan.

Where We Send Your Data

This Site is part of a network of sites that protect against distributed brute force attacks. To enable this protection, the IP address of visitors attempting to log into the site is shared with a service provided by solidwp.com. For privacy policy details, please see the SolidWP Privacy Policy.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Site traffic Data is retained for a shorter or equal duration equivalent to Google Analytics’ default data retention policy.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you wish to have a comment you’ve made removed from the Site, send an email to the Owner with your request. See the section, “What Rights You Have Over Your Data” in this privacy policy for more details.

For Users that complete a Contact form on the Site, such as subscribing to the blog or putting their name on a waitlist to be notified of upcoming service offerings from the Owner, their name and email address is saved to the Contact information stored with Mailchimp for the duration of the Owner’s use of Mailchimp’s services. As at the date of this privacy policy, the Owner plans to use Mailchimp’s services indefinitely.

By this Site’s use of Solid Security, security logs are retained for 10 days.
